The Off-Broadway Players, Corner Brook's community theatre troupe, are holding auditions for their Halloween production, Richard O'Brien's cult classic, The Rocky Horror Show.

The Rocky Horror Show will be directed by Stephen Perchard, with musical direction by Darlene Steeves, and choreography by Amy Andrews. Kevin Hennessey takes on the role of band leader.

This is the second time that Off-Broadway has staged The Rocky Horror Show. They last performed it in 2005 when it played for two sold-out performances at Corner Brook's Arts and Culture Center. The success of that production has led to the group restaging the show.

"We had a great time when we first did Rocky," says Perchard. "One of our biggest regrets is that we only performed the show twice. We heard from a lot of people who did not get a chance to see the show the first time. We also heard from a lot of people who enjoyed the show and wanted to see it again."

Perchard stressed that the Rocky Horror show is intended for mature audiences.

"Anyone familiar with this production knows that it is definitely not a family show. It's very much an adult-oriented show, and as such, it fits the demographic of our membership very nicely. We certainly need a lot of people to fill out the cast, and we are also looking for people interested in working back stage."

The Rocky Horror Show has ten principal roles, but also has a chorus that can be expanded to be as big as the groups' numbers allow.

In order to arrange an audition time, interested cast members can contact Perchard at 632-2146, or e-mail him at steveperchard@yahoo.ca in order to set up an audition. Anybody interested in being in the chorus, is invited to attend an open chorus meeting at 7:00 pm, this coming Sunday, September 13th, at Humber Elementary School.

Anyone who is interested in checking out the Off-Broadway Players is invited to attend their annual general meeting which will be held this Friday, September 11th, at 6:00 followed immediately by a bowling social at Center Bowl.
