1949
April 2006
In 2006, The Off-Broadway Players were successful in bringing the Provincial Drama Festvial back to the city of Corner Brook for the first time since 1985. In David French's play 1949, the Mercer family from Coley's Point find themselves living in Toronto as Newfoundland and Labrador is about to enter into Confederation with Canada. Comedic and poignant, 1949 deals with fitting in and finding your place, whether in a new city, a new country, or in your own family.
1949 won The Audience Appreciation Award, Best Visual Respresentation, Best Sound Design, and Matthew Payne and Krista Williams walked away wiht a number of scholarships.
